Nesika empowers First Nations cultural preservation
About Nesika
The Nesika Cultural and Heritage Society (Nesika) is a registered charity that provides practical education, community-based research and cultural programs that seek to preserve and promote Aboriginal Title and Rights and the sovereignty and self-determination of B.C. First Nations.
Our initiatives
Through our multi-pronged initiatives, we provide access to community-based education, research and cultural programs in order to develop and promote wellbeing for First Nations in British Columbia, advocate for their rights to self-determination and sovereignty, and provide resources and support to ensure abundant First Nations futures.
Community development
Leaning upon traditional values and lifeways, Nesika offers land-based education, research and cultural services designed to enable the revitalization, resurgence and reclamation of First Nations culture.
Advocacy
We act with a collective voice strong enough to resound globally. We advocate for First Nations’ rights to sovereignty and self-determination to be upheld by political and corporate actors, in alignment with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Fundraising
Leaning into the principals of trust-based philanthropy, we work with a network of visionary partners to facilitate reciprocity and abundantly-resourced First Nations communities.
The Arnold Peters Legacy Scholarship
We hold our hands up to Arnold Peters, who dedicated his life to the betterment of First Nations communities. His Legacy Scholarship is designed to foster opportunity and build the capacity for the next generation of Indigenous students. We warmly invite you to learn more about Arnold, and the opportunity for support provided in his name for First Nations students pursuing careers in financial services.
